1.From the midterm, I know how to use the mask to combine two layers together. From final project, I realize what the big idea really is, and know how to use the photoshop to greatly make the project meaningful.

2.I think the bigest challenge for me is the midterm project. Because first we just make some brainstorming things to put some picture together, it's kind of easy. But when we do the modulating meaning things, it's kind of messy, because I really don't know how to do this and how to show my big ideas. In fact, it's my first time to do an art work, I never touched it before, so it kind like some difficult for me to figure out how to do this. And it's really hard for me to combine the two works together and do the selecting things. But I study hard and try to pratice at home. So now these things for me it's a piece of cake!

3. Compare midterm and final projects I think what I make a big achievment is I know how to use the selecting, retouching, and the basic layers techniques, and more specific know what the big idea is, and use it as my own things.

My big idea for final project is love. I would like to use some love story as my background, and then use rings, flowers and wedding to show the love. I would like to make three works, one is young people's love, one is couples with children to show what the love is, the last one is old coulpes, when they become older, they still presist the love and try to catch the love.

These three picture I picked up it shows what the love is and which the love can make us feel happy.

I have chosen this art from Bill Jones which likes the big idea I choose and the soft lights appeal me so much. These pictures reflect a big idea that about family, because in the family, everything is soft, and warm, just like the light, something can give people warm and strength. Every family has light in their home, so the light can brings us a strong feeling of family. I will use these skills in my work too. To use the soft light in my work emphasis the big idea of family that can give people strength in their life which like the family does.

I choose this art from Ben Thompson which I really like it because it gives me a strong visual conflict. The picture tells a monster who just engaged in a fight just for protect their family. The artist uses the conflict visual figure to show us the conflict between a monster and the behavior of him which is just to protect his family. I learned something from this picture which I can use in my work, is just to use the big conflict to show the opposite side of the visual meaning, which can give person a strong effect of the big ideas.

denotatiion and connotation

The artist I found is Carl Pisaturo.These followings are images of him I have found.

 

 

Denotation of the image is that there is a little white dog which is wet during washing and two hands of person are helping washing the dog with a shower head. The dog has two big black eyes and a black nose. All furry of the dog adhere to its body.

 

Connotation of the image is that the person who is washing the dog shows tender care for the dog which can be seen from the quiet reaction of the dog. That demonstrates the harmonious relationship between animals and humans.

There is another image

 

The denotation of this image is that there are many trunks including thick ones and thin ones crisscrossed. There is also a creek which is flowing. The upper part of the creek is lucid while the bottom of the creek which is flowing is kind of white. The stones in the image are covered by mose and there are also leaves which are green enough.

 

The connotation of this image is that the whole image expresses a feeling of slience nature. Through the flowing water, the image brings people experience of sounds.
